Dr. Kendra Greene

At the June 6 Board of Trustees Meeting, Georgetown County School District named Dr. Kendra Greene as the district’s new Executive Director for Special Services.

Greene, currently the Coordinator for Special Services, will assume her new duties on July 1, 2023. She follows Michael Caviris who is retiring after 28 years of service in the district.

“Dr. Greene has served GCSD extremely well as Coordinator and I look forward to her leadership in the role of Executive Director,” said Superintendent Keith Price. “She has begun a number of initiatives already to help students and staff experience success and has shared other plans she has to continue that forward momentum.”

Greene brings 25+ years of diverse experience, having served as a special education teacher, reading coach, alternative program coordinator, school-based administrative coordinator, and special education district coordinator. She is National Board Certified as an Exceptional Needs Specialist and has teaching endorsements for Tier Secondary Principal, Elementary Principal, Elementary Supervisor, Behavioral/Emotional Disabilities K-12, and Learning Disabilities K-12. As Executive Director for Special Services, Greene will provide leadership that will facilitate effective programs that serve students with disabilities in the Georgetown County School District.

“It is indeed an honor to have been chosen for this position by our School Board and Superintendent Price,” shared Dr. Greene. “I am committed to supporting and strengthening our special education teachers and related service providers to provide services that are specially designed to meet each student’s unique needs. I look forward to this opportunity that has been entrusted to me.”

Greene holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Learning Disabilities from South Carolina State University; a Master of Education in Behavioral and Emotional Disabilities from Elon University; and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Congratulations, Dr. Greene!
