The New Social Studies Spirit Stick was awarded to The Honorable Dr. William Cox at Georgetown High School on January 16th, 2025. The Quarter 2 Instructional Challenge for the Social Studies Departments in our secondary schools was to provide evidence to the district coach of discourse strategies used in the classroom. Dr. Cox submitted nine pieces of evidence of students practicing annotation, analyzing historical documents, creating claims, and selecting appropriate evidence together using various strategies, including Save the Last Word, Conver-stations, and Co-op Co-op. Congratulations to Dr. Cox and the team at GHS!
