GCSD Selected to Participate in GEAR UP SC College Readiness Program

Georgetown County School District is proud to announce its selection as a partner district in GEAR UP SC (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs South Carolina)—a seven-year initiative designed to boost college and career readiness for South Carolina students.

Funded through a $35 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the program is administered by the University of South Carolina’s College of Education and will benefit school districts across the state, including GCSD. The initiative will support students from sixth grade through high school graduation.

At Georgetown County School District, 6th–7th grade students at Georgetown Middle, Rosemary Middle, and Carvers Bay STEAM Academy, as well as seniors at Georgetown High, Andrews High, and Carvers Bay Early College and Career High, will benefit from this opportunity as GEAR UP SC Scholars.
