Griffin Joins GCSD's Business Services Department

Georgetown County School District is pleased to announce that Jim Griffin will be joining the Business Services Department. Jim is a certified public accountant, and he brings a diverse portfolio of experience in the education and private sectors, Big 4 public accounting, and internal auditing.

Jim recently worked as the Director of Business Operations at the International School of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and he has held financial reporting positions at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the Seminole County Public School System. Early in his career, Jim held auditing and accounting positions at KPMG Peat Marwick and TIAA-CREF while working in New York City. Jim then transitioned into the public sector and worked as a controller and chief financial officer for two state authorities in New Jersey. Jim also worked for the United States Department of the Treasury – Office of Technical Assistance. He and his family moved to Hanoi, Vietnam, and he provided technical assistance to the Vietnam Ministry of Finance in adopting international accounting standards and the implementation of a transparent and accountable financial reporting infrastructure.

Jim is married and he and his wife, Rhonda, have three children. Rhonda is a kindergarten teacher at Waccamaw Elementary School.
