Welcome to the Office of ADEPT

Our goal is:

Assisting

Developing

Evaluating

Professional

Teaching

We focus on the Assisting and Developing aspects of the SCTS 4.0 Model to ensure that all teachers are fully supported to be effectively Evaluated.  This will allow for true life long Professional growth as a Teacher.

To achieve these goals, we work with our Induction teachers to provide monthly classes and professional development opportunities throughout the school year.  Along with the Induction teachers, we also provide support to our Annual, Annual Veteran and Continuing level teachers as needed.  The support opportunities include an orientation, mentoring, lesson planning, differentiation of instruction, technology, rubric overview, and enrichment.  We feel that this plan will help build trust and empowerment among our teachers.

ADEPT is South Carolina's system for assisting, developing, and evaluating professional teaching. Based on state expectations (i.e., the ADEPT Performance Standards) that are aligned with nationally recognized professional standards, the ADEPT system forms a seamless continuum for educators throughout the entirety of their careers. In addition to applications for classroom-based teachers, the ADEPT system also includes standards and models for assisting, developing, and evaluating special area educators (i.e., school counselors, library media specialists, and speech-language therapists).

Induction: GCSD offers a very unique first year experience for new teachers. We have created cohorts that allow the new teachers to feel more comfortable in smaller settings taught by a master teacher in the same certification level. (EC-ELEM / Middle Level / High School) Each cohort will provide detailed and relevant professional developement related to the SCTS 4.0 rubric as well as strategies to handle real life situations as a first year teacher. Each first year teacher will also receive a school level mentor to help provide additional support at the school level. We fully understand that your first year will be stressful and overwhelming, so our goal is to provide as much support and strategies to help you not only survive but thrive in your new role.

If you need any assistance or have any questions, please feel free to contact one of our ADEPT team members.  (Found in contacts)
