Mission & Beliefs

The mission of Waccamaw Intermediate School is to provide a nurturing and safe environment full of diverse learning experiences that enable all students to become caring and productive lifelong learners in a global society and technological society.

About The School

Waccamaw Intermediate School was dedicated October 7th, 2008. The school was built to relieve overcrowding at Waccamaw Elementary (WES) and Waccamaw Middle (WMS) schools. The third, fourth, and fifth grade children of Waccamaw Elementary chose the school's mascot and colors during their last year at the elementary school. Students also chose the equipment and raised the money for the playground.

The faculty is comprised mostly of veteran teachers. Additional highly qualified teachers have been added yearly.

Together the students, the PTO, faculty, staff and administration have made a positive impact upon the school. Through fundraisers and hard work a great playground and ball field have been added.

The property that the school is located on was part of Brookgreen Gardens, which was once comprised of several prominent plantations in Georgetown county.
