Workers' Compensation
Workers Compensation Procedures:
If/when an employee gets hurt at work they should immediately report it to the Principal of their school, Nurse, or their immediate supervisor.
The Nurse has the Workers’ Compensation paperwork that should be filled out when an incident occurs, time permitting. This paperwork will then be sent to Kateland Poston in the office of Human Resources.
The injured employee will take the Notice to Provider form to the nearest Doctors Care. They may use the nearest Emergency Room if emergency care is needed. They will be evaluated at one of these facilities and will be given a form with “work restrictions” to give back to their supervisor that will indicate if they may return to work or not. Every employee with Georgetown County School District is given seven workers compensation days to take IF the restrictions given by the doctor are not able to be accommodated. If, at the end of those seven days, an employee has restrictions that cannot be accommodated, or the employee is still out of work, they will have to fill out the Wage and Sick leave verification form. This indicates if they would like to go on Workers Compensation benefits or use their sick days and remain on payroll for Georgetown County School District pending their release from the doctor. If an employee is out on WC, Alicia Mercer will reach out to discuss the FMLA portion of their leave.
