FMLA / Paid Parental Leave
FMLA provides employees:
The ability to take up to 12 work weeks of paid or unpaid leave during any 12-month period
Job-protected for qualified medical and family reasons
While on FMLA, the employer provided the same group health insurance benefits, including employer contributions to premiums that would exist if the employee
were not on leave
Paid Parental Leave provides employees:
Paid parental leave for newborn biological child or foster of a child
Eligible District employees who are employed by the District and who give birth are entitled to receive six weeks of paid parental leave upon the occurrence of a qualifying event. Other eligible
District employees who do not give birth are entitled to receive two weeks of paid parental leave upon the occurrence of a qualifying event.
