Doug Jenkins named S.C. Personnel Administrator of the Year

Columbia, SC — The South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) has named Doug Jenkins, executive director for Human Resources in the Georgetown County School District, the 2020 South Carolina Personnel Administrator of the Year.
Jenkins has spent 17 years as a personnel administrator, and he recently created a training program for newly hired school leaders in Georgetown that covers important components of the hiring and onboarding process for new teachers and employees. With a comprehensive approach to addressing teacher recruitment and retention, Doug Jenkins has been able to attract top talent to the district.
“We are thrilled to name Doug Jenkins the 2020 South Carolina Personnel Administrator of the Year,” said Beth Phibbs, Executive Director of SCASA, “Doug has been involved with every aspect of Human Resources in the Georgetown County School District. His work has led to improved teacher recruitment. SCASA is pleased to recognize Doug’s vision and leadership with this award.”
Georgetown County School District Superintendent, Dr. Randy Dozier, commented on Mr. Jenkins tremendous contribution to the district, “Doug Jenkins is a valued longtime Georgetown County School District employee serving in a number of capacities over the years, but mainly in Human Resources. Doug has been very proactive in the key areas of teacher recruitment and teacher development. Because of Doug's efforts and innovation, Georgetown County has filled all our teacher vacancies and has one of the lowest turnover rates for teachers in the state. Doug is well deserving of this award and represents the district well in all he does.”
SCASA, the professional organization for school leaders in South Carolina, has more than 4,400 members. From professional development opportunities and research, to publications and legislative advocacy, SCASA’s focus is to support school leaders in providing the best possible education for South Carolina’s young people. As a state affiliate of three national associations for school leaders, SCASA also works on the national level.
