January 11 COVID-19 Update

January 11 COVID-19 Update from Superintendent Price
Posted on 01/11/2022

Georgetown County School District Staff, Students, and Families:

The health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. GCSD is committed to ensuring you have the information you need on COVID-19 as it relates to the newest guidance from SCDHEC and the CDC.

The latest SCDHEC guidance provides clear definitions for maximally and fully vaccinated.  “Maximally vaccinated” now applies only to individuals 18 years of age and older. To be “maximally vaccinated,” these individuals must have completed their primary vaccine series and have a booster shot if eligible. “Fully vaccinated” applies to individuals ages 5 to 17. To be “fully vaccinated,” individuals must have completed their primary vaccine series.

Based on the latest SCDHEC guidance, GCSD will now accept At-Home Rapid-Test results.  In order for the results to be used to document a positive test (qualify for isolation) or a negative test (to shorten quarantine), a completed At-Home Rapid-Test Results Attestation Form must be submitted.

All COVID-19 documents on the GCSD website, including the Student Quarantine Scenarios, have been updated to reflect the newest SCDHEC and CDC guidance. Any changes are effective January 11, 2022.

As I shared previously, vaccination and masking continue to be the best ways to stay safe and avoid quarantine. I sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate through this pandemic. We will be sure to keep you informed of any future updates released by SCDHEC.

Sincerely,

Keith Price
