In participation of Mental Health Awareness week, Georgetown County School District invited trainers from NAMISC (National Alliance of Mental Illness South Carolina) to provide the “Ending the Silence” program to Georgetown County School District staff.  On September 10 in the Andrews and Carvers Bay areas and on September 11 in the Georgetown and Waccamaw areas, trainers Regional Program Coordinator Kelly Troyer and State Coordinator Paige Selking trained school personal on various topics such as mental health awareness, tips for talking to students about suicide, reducing the stigma associated with mental illness, and the other various outreach programs that are available to the public.  Participants received a take-home tip sheet as well as various outreach numbers to share with students and community members that may be in need.  If any outside groups are interested in receiving similar training from this non-profit group contact Kelly Troyer at  Kelly.Troyer@namisc.org.
