The budget preparation process has begun for the 2021-22 fiscal year for the Georgetown County School District. 

Administration welcomes input on any new ideas and/or programs to implement for 2021-22, as well as any areas where there may be savings the District could expand on. If you have any suggestions or comments on strategies the District can seriously consider implementing, please e-mail your response to businesssvcs@gcsd.k12.sc.us. Or you can fax your response to (843) 436-7057. 
 

The 2021-22 Budget Development Calendar is below.  Use it for reference concerning important dates and follow the development of the budget process for 2021-2022.

DATES 

July 1, 2020                 FY 2021 begins, FY 2021 approved budget issued. 

August 2020         Administration reviews class sizes, teacher allocations and student enrollments when school begins and makes any necessary adjustments.

November 10, 2020     School 45-day average daily membership and weighted pupil         unit counts due for 2020-21. 

November 2020           Administration reviews FY 2021 departmental budgets and school budgets. Review student enrollments at schools with differences between prior year 135-day counts and present enrollments. 

November 30, 2020     45-day student count reports due to SDE (funding adjusted in January) for 2020-21.

January 12, 2021         SC General Assembly convenes (124th Session).

January 26, 2021         GCSD Board Work Session to identify Board Budget Priorities.

January 27, 2021         Solicit input from staff on 2021-22 budget via e-mail and the public via the District website.  Solicit input from Superintendent’s Cabinets. 

February 12, 2021       100-day pupil count, Average Daily Membership and Weighted Pupil Units. 

March 2, 2021             Principals present budget requests to Administrative Budget Panel.

March 5, 2021             Send out departmental budgets for line item budget preparation.

March 5, 2021             Send out 2021-22 School Supply allocations to schools for line item budget preparation.

March 8 & 9, 2021      Teacher allocation meetings for 2021-22 with Principals. 

March 16, 2021           Budget Presentations:

  • Elementary & Intermediate Schools
  • Middle Schools
  • High Schools        

 April 2021                   Departmental Budget Presentations

April 2021                   Business Services updates revenue projections based on House Ways and Means Committee’s proposed budget and other local, state and federal agencies’ proposed budgets as applicable.

April 14, 2021            
School 135-day Average Daily Membership and Weighted Pupil Unit counts due to District for 2020-21.

April 30, 2021            
School 135-day student counts due to SDE (funding adjusted) for 2020-21.

April 2021                   Business Services updates revenue projections based on the Senate Finance Committee’s proposed budget and other local, state and federal agencies’ proposed budgets as applicable.  Projections will be updated based on most recent actions by the Full Senate during month of April. Business Services will compile preliminary budget requests into proposed District budget and present to the Board for review.

May/June 2021           Preliminary Board Consensus on 2021-22 Budget.                                         

May 13, 2021              SC General Assembly Adjourns.   

June 1, 2021                Board’s public hearing on the 21-22 budget advertised in newspaper of general circulation. 

June 22, 2021               Public Hearing and 2021-22 Budget Adoption. (Tentative – Additional Meeting)
