COVID-19 Prevention & Resources

How the Coronavirus is spread

  • Person-to-Person Spread
  • The virus is thought to spread mainly between person-to-person who are in close contact with another person (about six feet). Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person sneezes or coughs, these droplets can land in the mouth or noses of people who are nearby or possibly inhaled into the lungs.
  • The risk of COVID-19 infections in South Carolina depends on multiple factors, including the likelihood of travelers from affected areas, how easily the virus may spread from person to person and the effectiveness of measures to prevent community spread.

Symptoms
