Qualifications

  • Associates degree, two years of college, or pass basic skills and Pedagogy (Work Keys Paraprofessional)  

  •  Prior experience working with children preferred.

  •  History of previous job experience required.

  •  Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


Performance Responsibilities

  • Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.

  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

  • Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.

  • Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

  • Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.

  • Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.

  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.

  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.

  • Keep bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up to date.

  • Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.

  • Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.

  • Checks notebooks, correct papers, and supervises testing and make up work as assigned by the teacher.

  • Checks and records student attendance.

  • Collects and records collection of money.

  • Helps students with their clothing.

  • Assists with lunch, snack, and clean-up routines.

  • Assists with wash-up and toilet routines.

  • Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

  • Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teachers.

  • Participants in in-service training programs, as assigned.

  • Understands and actively supports the school’s renewal plan through the activities and duties of the assigned management.

  • Supervisors may assign other duties as needed.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands, and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to students’ behavioral needs.

 Additional physical requirements include the following:  

  • Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds.

  • Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students

Position Available: Part-Time Spanish Teacher (4-8)

Position Available: School Nurse
Hours: Full time   7:45 - 3:30 Monday  - Friday                                                                                                                           
Salary: $35,000

Requirements:
1) Current license by the SC Board of Nursing or a compact state for practice a s a Registered Nurse
2) Three years of recent practice in the role of a Registered Nurse preferably in school nursing, community health nursing, public health nursing, or pediatric nursing.
3) Preferably is familiar with Montessori teaching philosophy.

Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1) CPR and AED certification or obtain within 2 months of employment; must maintain certification.
2) Knowledge of scope and skill of techniques and practices within the nursing profession.
3) Knowledge of concepts related to workplace blood borne pathogen risks and avoidance
4) Knowledge of concepts related to continuous quality improvement
5) Ability to exercise independent judgement while adhering to general school district and charter school policies and procedural guidance.
